Dealing with the demons

Oh those demons.
You know the ones.
They haunt you, and pull at you, and tear you this way and that.
They keep you up at night and try their hardest to keep you from living the happiest of happy lives.

I didn't have the greatest of childhoods.
To say my life could have been a Lifetime movie or an after school special is putting it mildly.
In summary, in many ways my childhood was pretty sucky.

However, all though that may be my past, it's not ME.
It's not who I am.
I am NOT my demons.

However, every once in a while, even as a grown-up, I am forced to do a little of this:

We all have something.
Some demons are easily dealt with, some stay for a while and then choose to live elsewhere.
Some overstay their welcome 'til you're ready to post a big sign in your front yard that simply says:
NO DEMONS ALLOWED.

And I refuse to let my something interrupt this good thing I've got going here;
I refuse to let my past dictate my future.

But that doesn't mean I don't have sad days.
It doesn't mean I've forgotten.
I've simply chosen to move forward,
and I absolutely refuse to let my past define me.

I won't be that girl; weepy and sad-- they don't look so good on me.

You can't run from them, at least not more than temporarily.
But facing ones demon isn't always so easily done.
It takes guts...lots and lots of guts.

Good thing I seem to have  a surplus in the guts department, right?

So demons, you're welcome to stay, but I'm not cooking you breakfast, and you can get your own towels.
P.S.) I know this probably wasn't what you expected from my blog this morning. Sorry if I disappointed. But sometimes life just isn't all pink and rainbow-ish, ya know? And surely I'm not the ONLY PERSON OUT THERE who harbors memories she'd rather forget, right????? (Feel free to leave a comment telling me you can relate. Otherwise I'll just feel all "I'm the only one who harbors bad memories"-like by myself, and that's no fun at all.)

P.S.S.) I've heard that entering giveaways for things like owl hats and photo canvases is a great way to ditch those demons. Just sayin'.
Oh, and one more thing-- those amazing pictures...you love them, right? Well, they came from here. Thought you might want to check them out for yourself. You can thank me later.
