Just for Giggles

Libby has horrific eczema. Like, it's so bad that last year, while I was preggers with the holly-bell, one of her doctors suggested sending her to the  Jewish Institute of  Eczema Research in Denver. Yes, I'm serious. Well, it's that fun of time year again when she's itching so badly she can hardly function. So, we had to take a trip to the good ole' dermatologist. It's just our luck that her usual doctor is out of the office for the week, so we saw someone new. Appointment was at 11. We saw the doctor at 1, during which he literally spends 2.5 seconds looking at one little spot on her, announcing she has eczema, and handing me me a pamphlet on dry skin. Yes, I'm serious. He then suggested she bathe in oatmeal. I think I might be losing my mind. I didn't know whether to scream, cry, or both. Good thing I have this to cheer me up, right?

It may not help with the itching, but it is good for a mid-day giggle or two.

  1. Ask your regular pediatrician about getting a prescription for Derma-Smoothe/FS.

It's what we prescribe our patients in the pediatric office I manage.

  2. Poor girl!!! I'm sure you've tried a million things, but we really like the Gold bond ultimate healing lotion. Adam's eczema wasn't that bad, but it was the only thing that helped!

What about some good old lansinoh? (You know, for breastfeeding nips?)
