Embracin' the Camera and It Tastes Like Cake Batter

In case you missed it, Saturday we partied like it was 1999 while we celebrated Libby's seventh birthday.

And in addition to yummy in my tummy owl cupcakes, we also had this:

It's dip made from Funfetti cake mix.
And, in fact, when made it tastes exactly like cake batter.
So, if you're a cake batter fan, this dip is for you.

The best part?
It only has three ingredients.
Doesn't get any easier than that.

Here's what the recipe calls for:

3tbsp cake mix
2tbsp plain yogurt (feel free to use fat free if you so choose)
1 tbsp cool whip

So, this serving size is perfect....for one.
However, if you plan on sharing, which you probably will, then you'll need to make a wee bit more.
By this I mean that I dumped the whole box of cake mix into a bowl and added yogurt and cool whip until it tasted right.

We ate ours with animal crackers, but it would be scrumptious on fruit or graham cracker sticks.

If you're looking for an easy dip of the sweet variety, this one's for you.

And while you're here, here's a pic. of Lib and I at her party:

I'm embracing the camera and joining my all-time favorite blogger in her linky party where she asks you to embrace the camera and capture a moment of your life with your kiddos.
You should join too; all the cool kids are doin' it.

Happy Thursday-ing to you and you and you.

  6. This is simple to make, delicious, and it looks pretty! You can make it with a variety of cake mixes depending on what you are in the mood for. I love the graham cracker idea, which is what I have been using.

  7. What a nice sweet dip this is, but the yogurt blends it together nicely so it is not too sweet. You can do a lot with this "dip" I topped bagels with it and it was really good.

  8. I really want to make this! How much yogurt/cool whip should you use if you are using the entire cake mix?

  11. Saw this on Pinterest and followed it to your blog. I've reposted it on KeepRecipes.

For those asking about using the whole box of mix: Notice that the original recipe calls for a ratio of 3 parts cake mix to 2 parts yogurt to 1 part Cool Whip. Measure the whole box of cake mix and divide by 3 to find out how much 1 part is. Use that much Cool Whip plus twice that much yogurt plus the whole box of cake mix.

  14. I just measured our box of funfetti (Pilsbury) cake mix. There were 3.5 cups. So that would translate to 2 1/3 cups of yogurt and 1 1/6 cup of cool whip. I probably won't measure that precise... but it's on the menu for the New Year's Party tonight!

  27. would an angel food cake mix work in place of normal cake mix? it's all i have in hand, and i don't feel like running to the store

  28. Dumb question does the cake mix need to be made or use the cake mix powder?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wondering if anyone has suggestions for a yogurt substitute? I really can not stomach yogurt, no matter how hard I try. Unless, is the flavor disguised enough by the cake mix?

  30. My kids are going to love this...what a geat idea.

  31. I got vanilla yogurt... Will that be okay , instead of plain?

  32. I am going to try it substituting the yogurt for softened cream cheese folded into cool whip!

  33. Just made this with one box pilsbury funfetti cake mix 2 1/3 cup yogurt and 1 1/3 cup cool whip. It was great but was a little to much yogurt for my taste so next time I will try it with only 2 cups yogurt and see how that is. Otherwise great recipe :)

  35. After doing the original dunkaroo dip I had 1/2 container of cool whip and 1/2 container of plain yogurt left and decided to use a chocolate fudge cake mix and added andys mint pieces and we are eating it on chocolate graham crackers. No its not a thin mint girl scout cookie but killed my craving in the off season!! Enjoy!

  37. I made the entire box and modified the ingredients to the right parts. It was a little to tangy for me from the yogurt so I just added in 1/4 cup of powdered sugar and it is perdect! Next time I will omit some yogurt......thank you so much for you post....I found it on pinterest and it led me here. It was delicious and a big hit!

  39. I found this recipe on pinterest... Omgosh it's amazing! This is my new favorite dessert. I love it so much that I've been eating 2 bowls of it a day since I found this recipe 2 weeks ago. I am eating a bowl of it right now... which is my third bowl today :) If you love cake batter like I do, then you should definitely try this. I didn't use yogurt though because yogurt can be a little sour... instead I used a little bit of milk (and if you have it... a tad bit of heavy cream to make it creamy). Yummy!
