Answered Prayer/Big News and a GIVEAWAY

It's no secret that I have been dreaming about one day going to Africa every.single.day for almost the past two years. And, after an answered prayer today, it's OFFICIAL!
Lee and I will be headed to Uganda this summer to serve with Sixty Feet.
There literally are no words to describe how very, very, very excited I am!

Have you heard of Sixty Feet?

I first heard about Sixty Feet last year, and reading about what they do in Uganda literally broke my heart.
Sixty Feet is a non profit Christian organization that works primarily to serve the imprisoned children in Uganda.
Oh, you read that correctly.

 I said IMPRISONED CHILDREN.

I mean literal prison, not just metaphorical prison.
Many of these children are as young as Libby and are living with little access to fresh water and none of their basic needs being met on a daily basis. This is wrong. It's heart-breaking. And this summer Lee and I plan to go and show God's love to these kids in any way possible, whether it's helping to maintain the fresh water supply, working to help with sanitation in the compounds, or helping to share the word of God with these babies whom God made and loves no less than he loves Libby and Hollyn.
It will be big. It will be huge. It will be hard. It will be sad. It will be hopeful.
And we can't wait.

And the fundraising is already in the works.
Get ready for some t-shirts, my peeps.
I'll have some in my hands starting early next week and will begin selling them just as soon I have them, I promise.

But more than we need funds, we need prayer.
Prayer for us as we prepare. Prayer that all of our paperwork with passports and shots will flawless and completed in a timely manner. But MOST importantly, please be in prayer for these children. I look at Libby and know in my heart that no child should ever have to face the reality that is the life of these children.

And, to celebrate this dream of going to Africa and being the hands and feet of Christ to those in need, I want to give away a copy of one of the books God used to show me that THIS is HIS plan for us.

Readers, let me introduce you to Crazy Love by Francis Chan
I recently read it and loved it so much that I wanted to share a copy with one of you.

Here's how you can enter to win a copy:

-Leave a word of encouragement for us in a comment. Love when others send happy thoughts our way!

-Follow my blog or remind me that you already do.

-Like Sixty Feet on facebook so you can find out more about what they are doing to make a difference.

You can do all or just one, I only ask that you please leave a separate comment for each thing you do.
I'll have Libby (who is almost as excited that I am going to Africa as I am) draw a winner on Saturday.

And now I'm off to start saving my pennies.
Have you priced plane tickets to Uganda lately?
Ouch.

  15. God is GOOD!! My neighbors have gone to Africa twice and my son's school just had a missionary talk at their school about the children and he was so overwhelmed, he bought a t-shirt to show his support, and he is 16!! Again God is good. :) Will be praying for you and Lee to prepare your hearts and your minds.
