This is me......

refusing to let the fact that my back hurts alldayeveryday keep me from enjoying this Hallmark holiday.

So, this weekend we did a little of this:

Well, don't let it deceive you.

Yesterday I noticed that my I-pod was sporting Lib's headphones that she uses on trips, at the doctor, etc.

And when I went to turn it on (during back therapy...ugh), it immediately opened one of her movies.

Well, after several near tragic (for the I-pod, not the Libster) incidents with my beloved I-pod, Libby is only allowed to use it with parental supervision.

So, when I got home from the back doctor, we had a conversation that went something like this:

Me: Libby, did you watch my I-pod last night without permission?

Libby: I don't know, Mom. I guess I must have sleep-walked.

Oh, the drama that is my six-year-old.

I swear she's the most entertaining person I've ever met.

Never a dull moment.

Desperate Time, Desperate Measures

The past three weeks have been kinda rough, what with the hurt back and whatnot. And this past weekend, we'd just about all had we could take of cold weather and a grumpy mom. So, we did the only logical thing TO do when in such a state: we got dressed and went to the nearest mall....which happens to be over an hour away, but that's neither here nor there.

Note: If you're on the hunt for mall celebrity status, all you need to do is hold hands with your one-year-old and go for a stroll--instant fame. Seriously, I thought we might need a bodyguard to keep all the adoring fans at bay.

And malls have apparently come a long way since I was a child, seeing as how they now come stocked with mini-carousels.

And now, looking back, I am so glad we made a break for it and got out of town while we could, especially considering that this is what we woke up to this morning:

The Libster was thrilled; the Mom...not so much.

But no worries, it's nothing that our ample supply of hot chocolate can't cure.

Those Two Dirty Words

Before things get ugly around here, I want to announce to winner of the Milkfly Giveaway. Congrats to comment #8, Brooke Anna. :) If you can e-mail me your mailing info., that would be great.

And now for the bad news.

After three long weeks of chronic pain, I finally caved yesterday and went to the back doctor, where he said those two dirty words to me:

bulging disk.

Trust me, it's even less fun than it sounds....and I'm sure the four to six weeks of therapy I'm about to endure will be equally as fun. However, all of this is still probably less fun than surgery, which was my other option. And don't even get me started on the limitations for the next month, with the number one most traumatizing limitation being NO PICKING UP THE BABY. Seriously, how are Hollyn and I supposed to function? Ugh. So not fun.

However, at least I have this to make me feel better:

I like to call this 'The Day Doc Wore Clothes'.

It goes without saying that he was thrilled by this notion.

But when a friend gives your dog a Valentine, it's only polite to give it a shot, right?

Thanks Erin Emily for the good laugh. Doc, however, would like to have word with you. Hopefully it won't be as ugly as 'bulging disk' was to me.
